About Me
Hello, I'm Gabe (He/Him), your partner in healing and self-discovery. As a psychotherapist, with Midtown Mind Psychotherapy, based in the vibrant landscape of New York City, I'm dedicated to offering group, individual and couples therapy both in-person and online. I also provide virtual services in Maine and Utah.
My journey into this field was influenced by my own experience with therapy. As someone who identifies as a member of the queer community, I've navigated my own challenges in exploring and embracing my identity. During my own coming out process, I was fortunate to have a therapist who not only listened but also accepted and valued me, often more than I did myself. I share this to convey my deep commitment to being that supportive presence for you. In our sessions, I eagerly engage in understanding you better and embracing the unique space that we create together.
Outside of my work, you can find me enjoying the company of my dog, Leo, staying active at the gym and through yoga, connecting with friends, and enjoying one too many cups of coffee!
Areas of Expertise
Clients often approach me with concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, relationship challenges, exploring queer identity, addressing substance use, and understanding hypersexuality. When you choose to work with me, you can expect a nonjudgmental, empathetic, and curious atmosphere. I firmly believe that our present is intricately woven with our past experiences, including relationships. Therefore, we'll explore these aspects together. Our therapeutic relationship itself becomes a tool to uncover insights into your relationship patterns.
Serving the Queer Community
As a queer therapist, I'm deeply passionate about supporting fellow members of the LGBTQ+ community. I understand the need for a safe space where you can explore your emotions and identity without judgment. While I bring an understanding of queer culture and identities, I recognize that each individual's journey is unique. Together, we'll navigate the specific moments and feelings that impact you. We'll identify what's working and what isn't, providing insight into the reasons behind challenges. Even if you identify as heterosexual, my perspective can help illuminate how rigid social norms may be affecting your life and guide us towards authenticity.
Substance Use and Hypersexuality
I acknowledge that turning to substances or behaviors serves a purpose in your life, even if it feels overwhelming. Through our collaboration, we'll pinpoint your goals and uncover the functions these actions fulfill. Together, we'll explore alternative ways to meet those needs.
